HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) Club is collecting toys again this year for Texas Children’s Hospital patients who will be spending their holiday in the hospital, not at home.  Please consider giving to those less fortunate than yourself.  Last year was very successful and much appreciated.  Toys can range from infants to toddlers to teenagers.  Donations will be accepted through Friday Dec. 15th.  Help us get the word out again please, last year was awesome!

Show off your support for the Lady Jay Soccer team by purchasing the team t-shirt! $18 for short sleeve and $22 for long sleeve.  Pick up an order form in the office, from any Lady Jay Soccer player, or Coach Bradford. Deadline to order is TODAY,Dec. 11.  Please turn in all orders to Coach Bradford. Thank you for your support of Lady Jay Soccer!!!!   

If your schedule requires a change at semester, please pick up a schedule change form in the counselor’s office.  Changes will not be made to switch teachers or to change periods if the class is larger than the one you are in.   All requests for a schedule change must be submitted by Friday, December 15th.         

FCCLA Christmas party and December meeting will be TOMORROW, 12/12 from 4-5:30 in the LGI. There will be food, games, and a Secret Santa gift exchange. See ya there!   

The annual TAFE Christmas Party will be Wed. Dec. 13th from 4:30-6:30 in Rm E205. All TAFE members are invited. Bring your favorite party snack and come prepared for Christmas fun. If you want to participate in the white elephant gift exchange then bring a gift under 10$. 

Spread the cheer this holiday season and send someone a candy cane! Sapphires will be selling holiday-themed candy canes for $1 during both lunches Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday. A candy cane and a message from you will be delivered to the NHS student or staff of your choice. Make sure you know their 4th period class to ensure prompt delivery.             

Seniors: The December edition of the Senior Newsletter is now available in the counselor’s office or on-line on the high school website. New scholarships include The Fort Bend County Fair and the Needville Youth Fair.  Get your copy today

Wednesday after school at 4:00 PM there will be a track meeting in the War room. Pick up a grade check sheet from Coach Melendez’ room TODAY, Dec. 11th filled out from ALL teachers. If you want to compete track and field you must attend this meeting. If you cannot please let Coach Melendez know so he can make a note of it.       

Students – Reminder that if you are planning to go to the DPS for your license or permit during the Christmas holidays sign up in Mrs. Reyes’s office to get your VOE.

Have you ever thought about experiencing the bioluminescent bays or just relaxing on a beach in Puerto Rico? If you have, or would like to see what this is EVERYONE is invited to the Puerto Rico meeting Dec 14 @6:30p.m. in the LGI. Bring your parents. There will be lots of info, and I, Coach Croft would love to see you there.    

TONIGHT the high school choirs and the Houston Tidelanders Barbershop Chorus will present a joint Christmas concert in the high school auditorium at 7:00 p.m  Reserved seats are $20.00 and general admission seats are $10.00.  Tickets can be purchased in the choir room.  So come and experience a joyful start to the Christmas season.

Seniors: All requests for transcripts to be sent to colleges and for official transcripts to be given to you must be turned in by this Friday, December 15th. 

Juniors – Balfour will be here during lunches on Thursday to deliver rings.  Any balance has to be paid at that time.       

The Spanish Club will meet TOMORROW morning in the LGI.  This is our Christmas Breakfast Taco Meeting.  If you ordered tacos, please remember to attend.  Also, Mr. Mora is asking if you want to help the homeless, he will do as last year, buy the Subway specials of $2.00 and a bottle of water and distribute in the Katy area.  Bring $2.00 for this event if you want to participate.  Our field trip is this Thursday to López and the Mariachi Concert.

Computer Science competed at Cypress Woods High School this past Saturday. The team of Josef Schodek, James Schoener, and Bryce Thumann placed 5th. Individually, Josef placed 8th and James 12th.

The Shotgun Shooting Team had 18 students compete in the Concordia Lutheran FFA shooting contest this past weekend in Hockley. Needville won 1st and 2nd high point teams. Congratulations to Hunter Buell who placed 1st overall high point shooter and to all who competed in the contest. Job well done!

The NHS Debate Gang took a trip to Van Vleck High School this past Saturday, and here are the results.  In LD Debate: Maddie Young got second place in LD Debate and second in Extemporaneous speaking; Julia Kovar, in her second ever tournament, got 6th in LD Debate. In CX Debate: Madi Smith and Kately Veetay got 3rd place and the team of Ashley Martinez and Max Renteria got 5th. Wow great job. They are really “VLECKing” Kohleffel’s halls with trophies.

The Texas Association of Future Educators had their region conference at the University of Houston Clear Lake this past weekend. The Needville TAFE chapter represented our school well and all students who participated should be congratulated for a job well done. The following TAFE members advanced to the state conference which will be held at Sam Houston State University in February. Needville ProGrad Senior Girls are hosting a powderpuff game. We need senior girls to sign up. If you are interested stop by the front office.  Packets will be sent to you at a later date.

The Needville Student Council is sponsoring a Christmas can food drive running all week from Dec. 4th through 8th.  Students, IF we collect at least 2,000 cans then you may have your shirt un-tucked for the rest of December!  You may drop them in the large collection containers in the cafeteria.

A new club will be starting after the first of the year - American Sign Language (ASL) which will meet every Friday at 7:30am in room B-105. For more information see Ms. Hayton B105.

Another chance to order your Letter Jackets - Packets can be picked up in the athletic office and Dilly Letter Jackets will be here Thursday at 4pm in the cafeteria for fittings.

We’d like to thank everybody that came to the Hour of Code yesterday to learn about and explore the world of programming and computer science. Needville offers a 4 year computer science program, that explores everything from coding with Java, building robots, and creating games. All computer science classes offered here are advanced or AP credit. We also compete in UIL and attend programming competitions on weekends. If you think you would be interested in taking a computer science class, talk to Mrs. McFarland to learn more.
