Sapphire Tryout packets are also available in the office and due back by March 31st. Tryouts are the week of April 3rd-7th.  

The annual Needville High School talent show will be held on Thursday, April 13.  If you are interested in performing, please pick up a form from Mrs. Castaneda, Ms. Zatopek, or in the front office.  Forms must be turned in by Tuesday, April 4.

The Beasley Community Committee is seeking eligible contestants for the Final Beasley Bash Queens, Jr. Miss and Little Miss contests. This is a great opportunity for community involvement including lots of fun and numerous prizes for all contestants as well as a scholarship for the winner of the Queens contest. All female applicants for the Queen's contest must be between 14 and 19 years as of May 19, 2017 to compete. Refer to beasleybash.org for rules and application.

Attention future PAL students! Please remember to turn in your completed application to Ms. Everest in room C206 by Friday March 31st. 

FCCLA Members – we will be completing a service project at the nursing home on Tuesday, April 11th. Pick up a permission slip from Ms. Everest today if you’re interested in joining.   

The Needville FFA competed in the Livestock Judging Contest at the Star of Texas Livestock Show in Austin. The team of Myles Hackstedt, Ty Thomas, Matt Schneider and Tanner Thomas placed 1st out of 66. Myles Hackstedt was High Point winner, Ty Thomas was 6th overall, and Matt Schneider was 22 of 208 contestants. The second team of Tyler Powell, Conner Atkinson, Morgan Dornak and Emily Verrett was 43. Congratulations!

The UIL Academic District Meet was held this past week. Once again Needville came away with the District Championship. Needville had 720 points while the next closest school had 277 points.
Accounting – 1st place team with Adi Melendez – 1st, Bryce Thumann – 2nd, Claudia Garcia – 3rd, and Hunter Bean – 4th.
Computer Applications – Christine Mendoza – 2nd, Samantha Ruiz – 3rd, and Kaitlin Mager – 6th.
Computer Science – 1st place team with Garrett Kubenka and James Schoener tying for 1st, Matthew Camacho – 3rd, and Josef Schodek – 4th.
Current Issues and Events – 2nd place team with Katherine Pitts – 2nd and Blaine Sablatura – 4th. The other team members are Andrew Barton and Delaney Orsak.
Literary Criticism – 1st place team with Sergio Rodriguez – 2nd and Daisy Salmeron – 3rd. The other team members are Jesselyn Alvarez and  Kaitlin Mager.
Mathematics – 2nd place team with Matthew Camcho – 2nd and Garrett Kubenka and James Schoener tying for 6th. The other team member is Han Ho.  
Number Sense – Lyndon Atkinson – 5th
Ready Writing – Samantha Paradiso – 1st, Maddie Young – 2nd, and Daniel Klutz – 3rd.
Social Studies – 1st place team with Alma Garcia – 1st and Samantha Paradiso – 2nd. The other team members are Hunter Davis Garcia and Lindsay Norman.
Spelling and Vocabulary – 1st place team Dionne Freund – 2nd and Triston Amos – 3rd. The other team members are Crystal Negrete and Kennedy Talamentez.
In the Speaking events, Needville was the top Speech team.
Informative Speaking – Ben Basden – 1st, Riley Horak – 2nd, and Aimee Herrera – 3rd.
Lincoln Douglas Debate – Jacob Tyler – 1st, Hannah Exley – 2nd, and Taliza Olmeda – 4th.
Persuasive Speaking –  Maddie Young – 1st, Jacob Taylor – 2nd, and Elizabeth Eversole – 3rd.
Poetry Interpretation –Kasey Strouse – 2nd and Madison Shillingburg – 4th.
Prose Interpretation – Zach Marullo – 1st and Keithly Vite – 2nd.
In the Journalism events, Needville was the top Journalism team.
Editorial – Hunter Dworaczyk – 2nd, Bradley Dietrich – 4th, and Casey Dworaczyk – 5th.
Feature – Gabby Ortiz – 2nd and Grant Maresh – 3rd.
Headline – Hunter Dworaczyk – 1st, Grant Maresh – 2nd, and Bradley Dietrich – 6th.
News – Grant Maresh – 1st and Kasey Strouse – 4th.
All students who medaled will need to bring their medals on Wednesday for a picture during activity time.

Registration forms for AP tests for students enrolled in AP classes this school year are in the counselor's office.  Registration forms should be turned in to Mrs. Orsak by March 23rd. 

FEMALES-  If you plan on playing a sport next year, you have to be in 7th or 8th period athletics, that includes power lifting.  If you were not in athletics this year and plan on getting into athletics next year, please see Coach Schultz.  You have make-up work to get done before you can enter back into athletics.  

HOSA will have their monthly meeting Thursday the 23rd at 7:25 in the LGI due to Spring Break last week, don’t be late!

Juniors and Seniors : Prom forms can be picked up outside Mrs. Wleczyk’s door, C207.

Congratulations to the FFA Livestock Judging Team who placed 1st in the Houston Livestock Show Contest. The team consisting of Myles Hackstedt, Ty Thomas, Hunter Bean, and Kelton Poe received the traveling trophy for display. Myles won the High Point and placed 1st out of 1,633 contestants. The team will travel to Austin on Thursday to compete in a state wide contest. Good luck!

This past week was a big week for the NHS Debate team. Over Spring Break, they competed at the UIL State CX Competition in Austin at THE University of Texas. The team of Michael Goodman and Madi Smith went 2-2 and fell one win short of advancing. Our other team, Ben Basden and KATELY Vite went 3-1, advancing to the octa-finals before being knocked out by this year's runners-up. Overall, they got 9th place out of a million CX teams in Texas. 

On Monday, our LD Debaters competed at their district competition. Jacob Taylor got first! Freshman Hannah Exley got 2nd! And Freshman Taliza Olmeda got 4th and went 3-0 in the preliminary rounds. They will all move onto regional competition in Corpus Christi on April 7-8.

Congratulations to the One Act Play team for advancing to Area competition.  They competed at the Bi-District competition yesterday and received 1st place.  The following students were recognized by the judge:
